Le Occare Farmhouse
An ancient farmhouse in the surroundings of Ferrara

Le Occare farmhouse is surrounded by a large shady fenced garden, including a little swimming pool, and by a 30000 square meters wooden area. Here you can taste the freshness and the relaxing atmosphere of the countryside. You can just relax in the garden and in the pool, walk in the wood searching for wild flowers and fruits, truffles, mushrooms and officinal herbs or go for birdwatching.

If you walk along a wooden trail you can reach two little ponds, once used to macerate the hemp, here you can look for herons and wild ducks. If you wish, you can have a bicycle to wonder around, with a short trip you can reach the nearby Verginese Castle with its Brolo and Belriguardo Castle.
In the farm there is a photographic dark room and a computer system linked with a high-resolution photographic printer. If you wish, you can learn to print your analogic and digital photos. At night you'll find very good conditions to look at the stars, with very low light pollution. A little telescope and some binoculars are available for our guests.

"Le Occare" is a very good starting point to visit the nearby areas of naturalistic and artistic interest. First of all the beautiful city of Ferrara, recently acknowledged as anUNESCO world heritage, it is only 15.5 miles (25 km) away. You can have a lot of interesting excursions in the neighborhoods. Within 3 miles you can reach the Este's Delights "Delizia del Belriguardo" and "Delizia del Verginese" and the ancient Roman necropolis of Voghenza, that you can easily reach also with a bicycle. A little farer you have the "Valli di Campotto" and "Vallette di Ostellato", interesting naturalistic reserves, a real paradise for the birdwatchers. If you go a little further you can reach the Parco del Delta del Po, the "Boscone della Mesola" and "Bosco della Panfilia", Ferrara seaside, and the ancient art cities of Comacchio and Ravenna. On a daily trip you can reach also Bologna (39 miles, 62.5 km); Modena (67.2 miles, 107.9km); Padova (63.6 miles, 102 km); Venice (85 miles, 136.5 km) and Florence (102 miles, 163.9 km).
